Another Helsinki police official sacked for far-right hate remarks

The Helsinki Police Department terminated a sergeant for making discriminatory remarks against racial, religious and political groups in online platform, reported national broadcaster Yle on Wednesday.
The police sergeant exchanged text messages containing hate remarks over the course of private conversations with two other staff members at the department.
Earlier, on June 9, the authority terminated a senior constable for his involvement in the same incident.
The conversation predicted the start of a "civil war" in which "Somalis would be gassed, gypsies shot and Muslims burned with flamethrowers".
Helsinki Police took the termination decision considering the official as unfit to discharge duties as the members of the law enforcing agencies are legally obliged to behave appropriately both on and off duty.
The terminated police official, however, can appeal at the Administrative Court against the departmental action.
