Mother remanded in custody in Tampere child murder case

A woman, who allegedly killed her child on Saturday in Tampere has been remanded in custody, Police said.

The Pirkanmaa District Court on Wednesday issued the remand order on possible grounds of the suspected murder.

The court also ordered the police to frame charges in the case by 10 September.

The police will investigate into the case closely and interrogate more people in this connection.

The case is being investigated as murder but the charge may be changed based on the findings of the investigation, said police.

The women is facing the charge after her child drowned at Lukonlahti shore in Tampere on 22 May.

The suspect mother was also injured after falling down from a bridge at Pyhäjärventie area in the city.
