2 killed in separate road mishaps in Lahti, Vantaa

Two persons were killed and another was injured in separate road mishaps in Lahti and Vantaa on Saturday morning and late Friday night.

The police said a woman was killed when a private car collided head on with a truck in Haarankylä area of Lahti on Saturday morning.

The accident took place at about 11:00 am, when the Lahti-bound truck coming from Kouvola collided with the car coming from the opposite direction on Highway 12.

A middle aged woman, who was driving the car, died on the spot.

Immediately after the accident, another car with three passengers on board knocked down the car but none of them was injured.

Meanwhile, in another accident, one person was killed and another was injured when two private cars collided in Koivukylänväylä area of Vantaa late Friday night at about 7:00 pm.

The drivers of both the cars sustained wounds in the accident and taken to hospital. One of them later succumbed to the injury at hospital.

There was no other passenger in the cars during the accident.

Details about the victims could not be known immediately.

The police and the Accident Investigation Board are investigating the case.
