Niinistö, Putin hold telephone conversation

President Sauli Niinistö on Monday held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and discussed various bilateral and international issues, according to a press release issued by the president’s office.

Aside from bilateral relations, the presidents widely addressed the coronavirus situation as well as great-power relations and arms control. They also continued their earlier discussion on Belarus, Ukraine, and the Navalny case.

In the course of the call, the presidents exchanged the traditional New Year’s greetings, this time in the spirit of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the press release added.
