The whereabouts of an elderly man who went missing from Espoo on 21 August are still unknown.

Family members and police sources said the 79-year-old man named Seppo, a resident of the Kalajärvi area remains missing since the evening of 21 August. He was last seen near Shell Lahnus, Espoo at 8:00 PM.

The Western Uusimaa Police released CCTV footage from the Kalajärvi K-market where he was seen with a cast at his right hand and walking wearing sneakers.

“Seppo is still missing. ….. sightings and tips about his whereabouts are still wanted,” Detective Chief Inspector Ilmari Hallamaa of the Criminal investigations Division at Western Uusimaa Police Department informed the Daily Finland on Tuesday.

According to his family members, Seppo was missing since 4:00 PM on 21 August. He was seen at the K-market of Kalajärvi and later at Shell Lahnus, Espoo at 8:00 PM. After that no one has seen him.

“There were some calls/ tips from different areas about possible sightings. Yet, they are not confirmed and we did go and search those places but there is still no trace of Seppo,” his son’s girlfriend Wen-Hui Tu told the Daily Finland on Tuesday.

She, however, said sometimes, Seppo suffers from short-term memory loss, which made them worried about him being out there all alone.

“Someone who looks like Seppo asked a man about the direction of Kalajärvi near Shell Lahnus, where he was seen for the last time,” said Wen-Hui Tu, adding that based on this, they assumed that Seppo might have been trying to return home but got lost.
