Number of births remains lower than deaths in Jan-July

Finland’s population was 5,530,706 at the end of July, according to the Statistics Finland.

The country’s population increased by 5,414 persons in January-July and the reason for the increase was migration gain from abroad, since immigration exceeded emigration by 10,480.

The number of births was 4,978 lower than that of deaths.

During January-July, 27,072 babies were born, which is 709 more than that in the corresponding period of 2019. The number of deaths was 32,050, which is 509 more than one year earlier.

According to the preliminary statistics for July, 16,165 persons immigrated to Finland in January-July and 5,685 persons emigrated from Finland.

The number of immigrants was 1,957 less and the number of emigrants 3,377 less than that in the corresponding period of the previous year.
