Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) introduced a new law from Saturday (February 1) with the provision for displaying taxi fare on the vehicle to ensure clearer and easier understanding of the fare.

From now the taxi fare will be displayed from outside before the passengers enter into the vehicle, national broadcaster Yle reported quoting Traficom and news agency STT.

The new rules affect taxi services that were not ordered previously. The taxis that are available to hire at taxi stands should follow the new rule.

The rule, however, would not be applicable for pre-ordered taxis or services supplied as part of a service contract, said the Yle report.

The Taxis with black and yellow sign should have price marked on the outside of the vehicle on the right side.

The size, appearance and symbols to be used have all been precisely defined in the regulation, the report added.
