World becomes more uncertain: President

President Sauli Niinistö said on Monday that the world was becoming more uncertain.

"Old conflicts have not been resolved and new threats have emerged. Our rule-based international system is being challenged," Niinistö said at a joint press conference after meeting with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The future of the planet could only be secured through cooperation between nations, Niinistö said.

Abe was on a one-day official visit to Finland where he talked with Niinistö on bilateral and international issues.

Abe mentioned the necessity to develop relations with Russia, an important neighbor of both Finland and Japan. He said the two countries would continue to cooperate closely on this.

They also shared values on improving women's rights, trade relations, the North Korean threat—along with Santa Claus and the Moomins, national broadcaster Yle reported.
