About 1,500 employees decided to observe a three-day strike from Wednesday in Turku protesting a new contract offering lower pay and shorter annual leave.

Public transport, Schools, daycare centres, and port activities will be disrupted due to the strike, said a press release issued by the city of Turku.

The Trade Union for the Public and Welfare Sectors (JHL) and The Federation of Public and Private Sector Employees (JYTY) are enforcing the strike protesting against a September decision by city-owned service company Arkea to switch staff to a cheaper collective agreement.

The Strike of JHL will Affect the Meal Services of the Day Care Centres, Schools and Vocational Institutes in Turku.

Due to the strike of JHL it is advised to prepare packed lunch for the day care centres, comprehensive schools, upper secondary schools and for some of the vocational institutes in the City of Turku from the 27th to the 29th of November.
