The Transport Workers’ Union AKT on Monday announced a sympathy strike in support of the ongoing national postal workers’ strike, if the issue is not settled in time, said a AKT press release.

The strike in the transport sector is scheduled to start on November 25 at 3: 00am and end on November 26 at 3:00am.

The strike will also affect bus services in the Helsinki Regional Transport Authority (HSL) in the capital.

HSL is currently investigating into the effects of the potential strike on its services, for example, how many drivers would take part in the strike.

The Finnish Postal and Logistics Union (PAU) has launched the strike across the country from November 11 morning and is scheduled to continue till December 8.

PAU’s strike has made mail delivery very difficult across Finland.

The reason for the strike is the employer’s decision to force some 700 Posti employees into another collective agreement.
