24 killed in road mishaps in September

At least 24 persons were killed and 473 other injured in 389 separate road accidents across the country in September, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of persons killed was five higher and that of persons injured 33 higher than in September 2018.
Of the persons who were killed, 11 travelled by private car, two by van, one by moped and five by motorcycle.
Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered two and cyclists two. In addition, one other road user was killed. Among those who died, 22 were men and two were women.
A total of 3,011 road accidents involving personal injury took place in January to September period. In the accidents 168 persons were killed and 3,808 injured.
The number of persons killed was nine higher and that of persons injured 229 lower than in the corresponding period of 2018. Of the persons who were killed, 95 travelled by private car, eight by van, three by moped, 25 by motorcycle and three by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered 12 and cyclists 15. In addition, seven other road users were killed.
