Ban on bringing dogs from Norway withdrawn

The Finnish Food Authority on Wednesday has withdrawn the ban on bringing dogs from Norway to Finland and vice versa, said an official press release.
Earlier, in this month the authority advised that people should refrain from bringing dogs.
The warning was issued following death of dogs in Norway due to unidentified reason.
Norwegian food authorities warn dog owners of an unidentified disease that has killed more than 20 dogs in Norway.
No signs of a similar epidemic, however, have so far been observed in Finland.
According to the Norwegian authority, the number of cases appears to have been declining over the past few days.
Thus far (25 September 2019), based on the data obtained from background surveys, the disease is not considered to be very contagious from dog to dog.
A number of known pathogens have been excluded by research, and for the time being, no clear single cause or connecting background factors have been established for the cases of disease.
