Bill to scrap activation model goes for consultation

The government has tabled proposal to abolish the activation model at the start of next year, reported national broadcaster Yle.
The bill to abolish the model was sent for consulation on Friday.The government is expected to make decision on the matter in the middle of September.
"Employment measures will be discussed in the ministerial group for promoting employment from next week," said the Minister of Social Affairs and Health, Aino-Kaisa Pekonen.
Unemployment benefit will be restored to its normal level from the beginning of 2020 if previously it had been reduced on the basis of an activation model.
However,the activation model will still affect the unemployment benefits in January 2020 for the benefits accrued in 2019.
