Police Day to be celebrated on August 31

The Police Day will be observed on August 31, said an official press release.
The theme of this year’s Police Day is ‘safely in the social media and internet’. Within the theme the schoolchildren can participate in a quiz where a great prize can be won.
Anyone can meet police officers in the shopping centre Ainoa in Tapiola, Espoo and in Lohja market square on the Police Day from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In a draw the schoolchildren can get a police officer to visit their school.
At the Day of the Police it is possible to talk to a police officer and get to know what is included in the police work.
“It will be an event for the whole family. We enjoy meeting people, so please don’t hesitate to come and talk to us,” said Inspector Hannu Väänänen.
“Both in Espoo and Lohja there is a draw, where a school can win a visit from the police,” Väänänen tells.
At the Day of the Police you can get familiar with police vehicles. On display there are police cars. In Espoo there is an armoured car and in Lohja there is a patrol police boat.
There is a possibility that the police dog Repe is visiting Espoo and in Lohja you can meet police dog Sinko.
For the youngest children in the family there is a possibility to try on a child size police uniform.
There will be a limited amount of police theme goods, such as band aids, cardholders and balloons available in the events.
