Thai berry pickers´ minibus meets accident in Seinäjoki

Several people were injured, two critically, when a minibus and a car collided in Seinäjoki early Tuesday.

The minibus was transferring ten berry pickers. National broadcaster Yle said they were from Thailand.

Local newspaper Ilkka reported that the driver of the private car was suspected of having been drunk.

Rescue services told local media that road conditions on a regional highway were normal.

Two of the injured remained in critical condition at noon on Tuesday, Seinäjoki hospital told Yle.

It is common that Asians especially from Thailand come to Finland as seasonal berry industry workers.
