Minister of Employment Timo Harakka and Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen will together present the priorities of Finland's Presidency to the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) of the European Parliament in Brussels on Wednesday.
Harakka will visit the Committee in his capacity as chairman of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO), said an official press release.
Ministers representing the Presidency of the Council of the EU responsible for the policy sectors in question will present the presidency priorities to the relevant committees of the European Parliament and have an exchange of views with Members of the European Parliament.
Following his meeting with the EMPL committee, Harakka will meet with the key representatives of that committee, Finnish MEPs and the Vice-President of the European Commission Jyrki Katainen.
In September, Harakka will present the main themes of the Finnish Presidency before the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO).
