9 new deaths, 3825 coronavirus infections diagnosed in 1 week

The coronavirus death toll in the country increased to 1039 as nine new deaths were reported in the country in the last one week since Thursday, 2 September, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 1, 31, 686 as 3825 new cases were diagnosed in the last seven days.

Out of the new cases, 683 infections were diagnosed on Thursday, 561 on Friday, 87 on Saturday, 910 on Sunday, 408 on Monday, 544 on Tuesday and 632 on Wednesday.

The THL, however, did not give any statistics about the number of coronavirus variants such as Alfa, Beta, Gamma and Delta in the last week.

A total of 98 coronavirus patients, including 22 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals in the country.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,537,046), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 2378 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 30,000 samples a day.
