Finland introduces EU Digital COVID Certificate

Finland’s digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate has been updated and made interoperable with the EU Digital COVID Certificate on Tuesday, said the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare in a joint press release.

The certificate is now available in the My Kanta Pages. The two other EU Digital COVID Certificates, the test certificate and the certificate of recovery, will be available in the My Kanta Pages as of 14 July.

The EU COVID-19 vaccination certificate contains information about the COVID-19 vaccine the certificate holder has received, such as vaccine name, the date of administering the most recent dose and the number of doses received. Anyone can get a certificate after getting first dose of vaccine.

The vaccinated people can download the EU COVID-19 vaccination certificate from the My Kanta Pages and save it on mobile phone or print it out.

The information in the EU COVID-19 vaccination certificate is in three languages, Finnish, Swedish and English. The certificate is free of charge.

Finland’s national COVID-19 vaccination certificate can no longer be used, the EU COVID-19 vaccination certificate could be downloaded even if the person already has the Finnish certificate saved on mobile phone or printed on paper.

In the My Kanta Pages, the EU COVID-19 vaccination certificate will automatically replace the national certificate.

More than 92 per cent of those who have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose can now get their certificate in the My Kanta Pages. Your certificate will be available in the My Kanta Pages as soon as the necessary information has been transferred into the Kanta services from the organisation that administered your vaccine.

There is still some regional variation in the transfer process, and some vaccinated persons may have to wait awhile for their certificate. Check the progress of the transfer process in your own area (in Finnish)

If the certificate of anyone is missing in the My Kanta Pages or there are errors in the certificate’s information, the person is requested to contact the organisation that administered the vaccine.

In future, the vaccination certificate will be available in the My Kanta Pages within five days of vaccination.
