The City of Helsinki has begun the COVID-19 vaccinations process for the residents aged 18 to 44 with an illness or condition that exposes to severe COVID-19.

The online booking for the vaccination appointments started on Thursday afternoon, while booking appointment by phone call has started on Friday morning, said a press release on Friday.

For those belonging to the risk group 2 and those turning 45 or older this year, the online vaccination appointment booking services through online or by phone have also been started.

Illnesses or conditions that can result in very high susceptibility to severe COVID-19 are asthma, requiring continuous medication, severe heart disease, including heart failure (but not just hypertension), neurological illness or condition that affects breathing, immunosuppressive medication for an autoimmune disease, severe chronic liver disease, type 1 diabetes or adrenal insufficiency, moderate to severe sleep apnoea, psychotic disorder and morbid obesity (body mass index of 40 or above).

Vaccinations are being carried out at the vaccination points of Jätkäsaari, Messukeskus, Malmi, and Myllypuro. Due to the increase in the number of available vaccine doses, the opening hours of the vaccination points have been extended.

From now on, the vaccination points will remain open until 20:00 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The vaccination points are also open on Saturdays.
