9 more deaths,1075 new coronavirus infections diagnosed in 3 days

The coronavirus death toll in Finland increased to 701 as nine more patients died at different hospitals in the country in the three days since Friday afternoon, said the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) on Monday.

Out of the deaths, six were reported in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), two in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), and one in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 47, 969 as 1,075 new cases were diagnosed in those three days.

Out of the new cases, 368 infections were diagnosed on Saturday, 354 on Sunday, and 353 on Monday, said the THL.

So far, 473 people have died in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS), 78 in the Pohjois-Savo Hospital District (KYS), 63 in the Turku Hospital District (TYKS), 55 in the Tampere-Pirkanmaa (TAYS) Hospital District and 32 in the Pohjois-Pohjanmaa Hospital District (OYS).

A total of 125 coronavirus patients, including 16 in intensive care units (ICUs), are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals.

According to the THL report, in relation to Finland’s total population (5,543,233), the prevalence of COVID-19 cases is 865 per 100,000 people.

Currently, laboratories in the country have the testing capacity of about 26,000 samples a day.
