´One in, one out´ migrant scheme between Britain, France scrapped

The British government has scrapped the "one in, one out" English Channel migration deal with France, said media reports on Wednesday, quoting Britain's Home Office, reported Xinhua.

The pilot scheme allowed Britain to return some small boat arrivals while taking in the same number of people from France who were believed to have a legitimate claim to come to Britain, according to the media report.

The issue of small boat crossings has been haunting Britain for a long time. A total of 781 migrants arrived in Britain after crossing the English Channel in small boats on Sept. 23, marking the highest number of such arrivals in a single day so far this year.
