Ukrainian president appoints new General Staff chief

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday appointed Major General Ihor Skybiuk as chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, replacing Andrii Hnatov, reported Xinhua.
In a post on X, Zelensky described Skybiuk as "a highly experienced officer" who fought alongside Mykhailo Drapatyi, whom he appointed as the new commander-in-chief on Tuesday.
Skybiuk, 49, previously served as deputy chief of the General Staff.
