A French soldier was killed in an accidental shooting incident during a mission in Lebanon, the French Army said on Wednesday, reported Xinhua.

The soldier was identified as Private First Class Florian Gillet, in an announcement on social media by General Pierre Schill, chief of staff of the French army.

Gillet was deployed to Lebanon as part of an operational partnership mission to support the Lebanese Armed Forces, Schill said, noting that he was accidentally shot during preparations for a training exercise.
