Several arrests in German-led child pornography darknet sweep

German investigators have succeeded in shutting down several child pornography platforms on the darknet, with arrests in Germany, Britain and the United States, Bavarian police and the southern state's cybercrime unit said on Friday, reported dpa.

Three darknet platforms have been shut down as a result.

Several thousand users from within and outside Germany had been active on the platforms. They reportedly disseminated more than 20,000 child pornographic pictures and videos and published 120,000 posts per month.

The suspect arrested in Germany is said to have been a moderator of one of the platforms. The 22-year-old was arrested in Bonn in November.
