Berlin to deliver 40 Marder vehicles to Ukraine

Germany plans to hand over the promised Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine in the first three months of the new year, government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit said on Friday, reported dpa.

The delivery would include 40 Marder vehicles with which a battalion could be equipped, he said.

According to experts, the training of Ukrainian soldiers planned in Germany for this purpose will take about eight weeks.

The US side will also train Ukrainians on its Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. It is not yet known whether the training will take place in the US or in Germany.

The US and Germany have also promised Ukraine the Patriot air defence missile system and are to train Ukrainians on it.
