The University of Helsinki has admitted 1,246 students to international master’s programmes starting in autumn 2021, said the university in a press release on Thursday.

In the application round that ended 15 January, the university received 7,401 applications from 150 different countries to the 35 international master’s programmes on offer, marking a 58% increase from that in the last cycle.

Students from both Finland and other countries pursue studies in the international programmes.

Of those admitted to the programmes beginning in autumn, 64% are from countries other than Finland and 49% are from non-EU or non-EEA states. Alongside Finland, the highest number of admitted students came from China, the USA, and Bangladesh.

The most popular programmes this year were the Master’s Programme in Data Science and the Master’s Programme in Environmental Change and Global Sustainability.

The admitted students have until 16 July to accept the university’s offer of admission.
