Technical glitch affects registrations for YKI test

A technical error took place in the registration system for the National Certificates of Language Proficiency (YKI) on Monday affecting participation of some applicants in the test scheduled for November 7, said Finnish national agency for Education on Wednesday.

The authority, however, fixed the error but some people received a test place even though the test was already full.

Because of the error, some registrations were accepted after all available places had been filled.

These people have been contacted. They have been moved to the waiting list according to the original order of registration.

The test fee has been refunded to everyone affected by the error. Depending on the bank, the refund may take 2 to 3 days to appear in the account.

People on the waiting list may still receive a test place, if someone cancels their participation.

The authority is also trying to increase the number of places in the tests affected by the error.

If a person on the waiting list is offered a test place later, they will need to pay the test fee again. In these cases, the payment period will be longer than usual.

The changes may also affect the waiting list positions of some examinees.

The authority informed everyone whose waiting list position has changed.

The technical error affected registrations for test sessions organised by Taitotalo, Helsinki, Hyria koulutus Oy, Hyvinkää, Careeria, Lämmittäjänkatu 2 A, Helsinki, Tampereen Aikuiskoulutuskeskus, Tampere, Vaasan kansalaisopisto Alma – Vasa medborgarinstitut Alma, Vaasa, Osuuskunta opetus ja ohjaus (O&O), Helsinki, Jyväskylän kansalaisopisto, Jyväskylä, Kuopion kansalaisopisto, Kuopio, Careeria, Ammattitie 1, Porvoo, Omnia, Espoo, Turun ammatti-instituutti, Turku, Helsingin aikuisopisto, Helsinki and Luksia, Espoo.
