Inflation stands at 2.2% in August as fuel prices go up

The year-on-year change in consumer prices was 2.2 per cent in August 2026, according to Statistics Finland.

In July, inflation stood at 2.1 per cent. The month-on-month change of consumer prices was minus 0.2 per cent.

In August 2026, consumer prices were raised most year-on-year by the petrol 95 E 10, diesel EN 590 and heating oils.

The rise in consumer prices from one year ago was curbed most by the owner-occupied flats, redemption of documents and interests on consumer credit and student loans.

The core inflation of the Consumer Price Index was 1.4 per cent.

The calculation of the core inflation takes into account all consumer goods and services, excluding food and energy, which include more short-term price fluctuations than the other commodities.
