14th TechBBQ launches in Copenhagen to encourage startups, investors

Several thousands of people are participating in the 14th edition of the two-day long TechBBQ 2026 began at Bella Center Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday with the theme "Emerging from Agency”.

The leading tech summit in Europe brought startups, investors, industry and ecosystem leaders from around the world together to explore the ideas in all the emerging sectors of technology including Artificial Intelligent (AI), quantum computing, robotics, and future transformations.

On the opening day, the organizers at a press conference presented experts from various sectors who pointed out the current and future trends and different aspects of technology across the globe.

Hosted by Lotte Thor Høgsberg of SASHA, Julius Markedal Jensen, Economist, Analyst & Strategist at the Export and Investment Fund of Denmark (EIFO), Anders B. Christjansen, AI Tech Foresight at Innovation Centre Denmark (ICDK), Lukas Leitner, Founding Partner at Drumbeat Capital and Amy Nordrum, Executive Editor of Operations at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) spoke on the occasion.

Jensen in his presentation focused EIFO’s new report on startup growth covering key trends and developments across various financing segments and their implications for Danish startups.

Christjansen spoke on the report titled “Tech10+1: Global Signals, Danish Choices” while Drumbeat Capital´s founding partner projected the 2026 outlook of his organization.

MIT Executive Editor of Operations Nordrum in her paper entitled “The 10 breakthrough technologies” outlined the possible perspectives of future technologies all over the world.

TechBBQ has become the key inspiration for the startup and innovation ecosystem in Scandinavia since 2013.

BBQ, which initiated through gathering the tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in a Copenhagen park has grown into one of the largest and most "hyggelig" ( a Scandinavian term meaning nice) events of its kind in Scandinavia — and one of the most anticipated dates on Europe's startup calendar.
