Unemployment rate rises to 10% in Finland in June

The number of unemployed persons aged 15 to 74 was 297,000 (margin of error ±25,000) in June this year, which was 3,000 more than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

Out of the unemployed people, 151,000 were men and 146,000 women.

In June, the proportion of the unemployed among the labour force stood at 10.0 per cent, having been 9.9 per cent one year earlier.

The unemployment rate of men stood at 10.0 per cent, which was 0.2 percentage points lower than one year before.

The unemployment rate of women stood at 10.1 per cent, which was 0.6 percentage points higher than in the previous year.

The trend of the unemployment rate among young people was 22.3 per cent.

The share of unemployed young people aged 15 to 24 among the population in the same age group was 12.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, in June 2026, the number of employed persons aged 15 to 74 was 2,658,000 (margin of error ±32,000), which was 15,000 fewer than one year earlier.

There were 6,000 fewer employed men and 9,000 fewer employed women than in June last year.

In June, the proportion of the employed among persons aged 20 to 64, stood at 76.5 per cent, having been 77.2 per cent in this age group one year earlier.

The employment rate of men aged 20 to 64 fell by 0.4 percentage points to 76.7 per cent and the employment rate of women fell by 1.0 percentage points to 76.3 per cent from one year ago.

The employment rate of persons aged 20 to 69 fell by 0.4 percentage points from last year's June to 71.3 per cent.

Men's unemployment fell, women's unemployment grew compared to the previous year.
