Fuel price hike further rises inflation to 2.1% in Finland in May

The year-on-year change in consumer prices was 2.1 per cent in May 2026, according to Statistics Finland.
In April, inflation stood at 1.5 per cent. The month-on-month change of consumer prices was 0.5 per cent.
Consumer prices were raised most year-on-year by petrol 95 E 10, diesel EN 590 and refundable prescription medicines in May.
The rise in consumer prices from one year ago was curbed most by interest on housing loans, interests on consumer credit and student loans and redemption of documents.
The core inflation of the Consumer Price Index was 1.3 per cent.
The calculation of the core inflation takes into account all consumer goods and services, excluding food and energy, which include more short-term price fluctuations than the other commodities.
