Number of bankruptcies in Finland rises in April

A total of 357 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in Finland in April 2026, which is 24 bankruptcies more than in the corresponding period one year before, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,093, which is 39 staff-years fewer than in April 2025.
The 12-month moving annual change in instigated bankruptcy proceedings was 10 per cent in April 2026.
A total of 22 enterprises in manufacturing, 61 in trade and 77 in construction filed instigated proceedings for bankruptcy in April.
Earlier in March, a total of 392 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in March 2026, which is 42 bankruptcies more than in the corresponding period one year before.
In February this year, a total of 379 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in Finland, which was 51 bankruptcies more than in the corresponding period one year before.
