Number of bankruptcies in Finland on rise in March

A total of 392 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in March 2026, which is 42 bankruptcies more than in the corresponding period one year before, according to Statistics Finland.
The number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,068, which is 135 staff-years fewer than in March 2025.
The 12-month moving annual change in instigated bankruptcy proceedings was 10 per cent in March 2026.
A total of 26 enterprises in manufacturing, 50 in trade and 73 in construction filed for bankruptcy.
In February this year, a total of 379 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in Finland, which was 51 bankruptcies more than in the corresponding period one year before.
