Food delivery service company Foodora has decided to stop operation in Finland on February 27, said the company in a press release on Friday.

Earlier on January 12 the company started codetermination talks with the employees and also considered that time the possibility of completely withdrawal of its operation from the country.

The decision to stop operation in Finland will affect about 80 local employees and thousands of independent couriers, local media reported.

Foodora authority took the decision following re-assessing the strategy in the region and examining whether continuation in Finnish market would commercially be viable to earn its broader goals in Europe.

Foodora, which started operation in Finland in 2015, now is delivering food in more than 100 municipalities.

Founded in Germany, the company also operates in Sweden, Norway, Austria, Czech Republic, and Hungary.
