New car registration drops by 5% in Finland in January

A total of 5,462 new passenger cars were registered in January 2026 in Finland, which was 5 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 8,992 new vehicles were registered in January. First registrations decreased by 9 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Of first-time registered passenger cars, altogether 46 per cent were fully electric. The number of their registrations was 2,505, or 53 per cent higher than one year earlier.

In all, 1,966 new petrol-fuelled passenger cars were registered in January, which was 20 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
