€74.1m Eurojackpot goes to woman in Helsinki

A woman from Helsinki won the Eurojackpot lottery of 74,104,783 euros in the draw took place on Friday night, said the state-owned gambling monopoly Veikkaus in a press release on Sunday.

With this the lottery's top prize has gone to Finland for 24th time.

Veikkaus communicated with the winner over telephone and she has chosen to keep her identity private and share the information with a small circle of people.

The amount is the fourth-largest Eurojackpot victory in Finland and the largest gambling win for a single person.

The winner checked her ticket on Saturday morning after hearing that the Eurojackpot had gone to Finland this time.

“I think I still do not fully understand how much money I have won. Maybe it will be clearer when the money will arrive in my bank account,” said the Veikkaus press release, quoting the winner as saying.

She also said that she has planning to renovate her home and wishes to change her working life after receiving the money.

The winner will receive the money within three weeks.
