Finland sees more bankruptcies in October, new enterprises in Q3

A total of 348 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in Finland in October 2025, which is nine more than in the corresponding period one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,190, which is 279 staff-years fewer than in October 2024.

The 12-month moving annual change in instigated bankruptcy proceedings was seven per cent in October.

A total of 125 enterprises in Uusimaa, 34 in Pirkanmaa and 35 in Southwest Finland filed for bankruptcy.

Meanwhile, 14,040 new enterprises were registered during the third quarter of 2025.

Compared to the corresponding period of the year before, the number of registrations went up by six per cent.

Of the registered enterprises 5,305 were limited companies and 8,650 were natural persons.

During the third quarter, six per cent more limited companies were registered than in the corresponding period of the year before.

A total of 27 general partnerships were registered, which is the lowest number during the measuring history of the statistics starting from 2019.
