Wage, salary increase by 1.6% in Sep Y-on-Y

The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum of the whole economy was 1.6 per cent higher in September 2025 than in September 2024, According to Statistics Finland.
The wages and salaries sum, however, increased by 0.6 per cent in September from the previous month.
The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum was 1.3 per cent higher in the private sector in September than twelve months earlier. In the public sector it was 1.7 per cent higher than a year earlier in the corresponding period.
In the private sector, the seasonally adjusted wages and salaries sum increased by 0.7 per cent and increased in the public sector by 0.1 per cent in September from the month before.
The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum increased in September 2025 in majority of main industries but decreased in the industries of private education and construction compared to September 2024.
The working day adjusted wages and salaries sum increased significantly in the industry of finance and insurance (6.7%).
The growth was moderate in the industries of manufacturing (2.3%), trade (2.0%), other services (0.8%) and private health and social work (0.3%).
At the same period the working day adjusted wages and salaries sum decreased in the industries of private education (2.5%) and construction (1.9%).
The factors caused by the variation in the number of weekdays are taken into account in adjustment for working days.
This means taking into consideration the lengths of months, different weekdays and holidays.
