More bankruptcies filed in May in Finland

A total of 366 bankruptcy proceedings were instigated in May 2025, which is 39 more than in the corresponding period one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

The number of staff-years in enterprises that filed for bankruptcy totalled 1,231, which is 121 staff-years more than in May 2024.

The 12-month moving annual change in instigated bankruptcy proceedings was eight per cent in May 2025.

In May 2025, altogether 34 enterprises in accommodation and food service activities were filed for bankruptcy and in them 233 staff-years were under threat of bankruptcy.
