New car registration drops by 12% in May in Finland

A total of 6,851 new passenger cars were registered in Finland in May 2025, which was 12 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.
In all, 12,252 new vehicles were registered in May. First registrations decreased by 14 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.
In January to May period, a total of 29,809 new passenger cars were registered, which was 8 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
Of first-time registered passenger cars in May, 34 per cent were fully electric.
The number of electric cars registrations was 2,296, or 3 per cent higher than one year earlier.
A total of 2,851 new petrol-fuelled passenger cars were registered in May, which was 24 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
