New car registration drops by 16% in March

A total of 6,486 new passenger cars were registered in March 2024, which was 16 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 11,062 new vehicles were registered in March. First registrations decreased by 15 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

In January to March period of 2024, a total of 18,452 new passenger cars were registered, which was 12 per cent fewer than one year earlier.

Of first-time registered passenger cars in March, 29 per cent were fully electric. The number of electric car registrations was 1,852, or 36 per cent fewer than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger numbered 3,177, which was 8 per cent more than one year earlier.
