Finland's agricultural producer prices soared by 29 percent year on year in the second quarter (Q2) of 2022, reported Xinhua, quoting Statistics Finland on Monday.

The agency said in a press release that the biggest increase was registered in the price of grain, which rose by 114 percent year on year.

The surge in grain prices was due to last year's poor harvests, the ongoing drought as well as rising energy and other production costs, according to Marianne Rautelin, chief actuary of Statistics Finland.

The price of meat in Q2 was also at the highest level in this century, the agency said.

Analysts say the surging agricultural producer prices will continue to drive up Finland's inflation.
