New car registration drops by 27% in Apr

A total of 6,431 new passenger cars were registered in April 2022, which was 27 % fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 13,133 new vehicles were registered in April. First registrations decreased by 26 % from the corresponding month of the previous year.

The component shortage in the motor industry causes delays in the production of new cars.

Of first-time registered passenger cars, 12 % were electric. The number of their registrations was 777, or 27 % higher than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger cars numbered 3,697, which was 8 % fewer than one year earlier.
