Trade balance shows €935m deficit in Jan

The trade balance showed a deficit of EUR 935 million in January, said the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods by Finnish Customs released on Tuesday.

In January 2021, the trade balance was EUR 345 million in deficit.

According to the statistics, the value of Finnish exports increased by 29.3 per cent, and the value of imports by 39.5 per cent in January year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in January was EUR 5.7 billion and the value of imports EUR 6.7 billion. During the reference month in 2021 exports decreased by 9.8 per cent and imports by 8.7 per cent.

Exports to EU member states increased by 32.8 per cent and exports to non-EU countries by 24.7 per cent in January.

Imports from EU countries increased by 33.3 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 47.9 per cent.
