New orders in manufacturing grow by 46.8% in July Y-on-Y

The value of new orders in manufacturing was 46.8 per cent higher in July 2021 than twelve months earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

During January to July, orders grew by 28.0 per cent from the year before.

As in the months before, growth continued strong in new orders in manufacturing in July.

In July, enterprises in all examined main industries received more orders than twelve months ago. New orders grew most in the metal industry, where the value of orders was 61.5 per cent higher than in the previous year.

In the industry of the manufacture of paper and paper board products, orders grew from the previous year by 31.1 per cent and in the chemical industry by 15.0 per cent.

These statistics are based on non-probability sampling, in which the basic observation unit is an enterprise or a kind-of-activity unit. The sample comprises monthly 400 to 450 enterprises or their kind-of-activity units.
