14.3% Finns face risk of poverty in 2020

A total of 777,000 persons or 14.3 % of the household population were at risk of poverty or social exclusion in 2020, according to Statistics Finland.

Persons living in low income households, households with low work intensity or households that experience severe material and social deprivation are considered being at risk of poverty or social exclusion.

In relative terms, the number of persons at risk of poverty or social exclusion was highest among those aged 18 to 24.

The risk for women was more prevalent among both those aged 18 to 24 and those aged over 64, while the risk for men was more prevalent in other age groups.
