Migri to close refugee centre in Paihola next year

The Finnish Immigration Service( Migri) has decided to close down the refugee reception centre in Paihola in the middle of next year, said an official press release.

The operations of the Paihola refugee reception centre (Kontiolahti) with the capacity of 150 beds operated by Finnish Red Cross will be closed by 30 June 2020.

The Immigration Service aims for the reception centre capacity to correspond to the existing need for accommodation.

At the moment, there are 38 refugee reception centres, 6 units for minors and 2 detention units in Finland.
