France's data protection authority on Wednesday fined Google for failing to comply with regulations on online trackers, reported Xinhua.

The CNIL announced it was imposing a fine of 325 million euros on the U.S. tech giant, according to a statement on its website.

Since 2020, the CNIL has issued several penalties on companies that failed to meet legal requirements related to advertising trackers, the statement said.

The CNIL added that Google also violated rules by displaying advertisements in Gmail's tabs without obtaining user consent.
