Yemen's Houthi group said Monday that at least 10 people were killed and dozens wounded in an attack on a market in the southwestern province of Taiz, as fighting and strikes intensified across several parts of the country, reported Xinhua.

Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported that the attack hit a market in the Al-Makhaaf area of Al-Misrakh district, south of Taiz city, blaming forces aligned with Yemen's government and supported by the Saudi-led coalition. It said the casualty toll was preliminary.

Saudi airstrikes and cross-border attacks were also reported in other parts of Yemen. The channel also reported two Saudi airstrikes on Ash Shamayatayn district in southern Taiz province. No casualties or damage were immediately reported.

In the northern province of Saada, al-Masirah said Saudi missile strikes targeted a telecommunications network in Majz district and the Dhuwayb area of Haydan district.

The channel also reported that two people were wounded by Saudi gunfire in Shada, another district along Yemen's border with Saudi Arabia.

There was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities or Yemen's government on the reports. The claims and casualty figures could not be independently verified.

Also on Monday, the Houthi group said it had carried out drone attacks on an airport and military targets in Saudi Arabia over the previous 48 hours.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement posted on social media platform X that the group had targeted King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, in two separate drone attacks. He claimed the attacks disrupted flight operations at the airport.

The spokesman also said a drone struck an early-warning radar in Jazan, a southwestern Saudi region bordering Yemen, claiming a direct hit. He said another attack targeted a military transport aircraft at Jazan airport, without providing details on possible casualties or damage.

There was no immediate comment from Saudi authorities on the Houthi claims.

The incidents come amid a sharp escalation between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, with Saudi strikes hitting Houthi-held areas in Yemen and the Houthis launching missiles and drones toward Saudi Arabia.

Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized Sanaa and much of northern Yemen, prompting the Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.
