Dozens of Palestinians on Thursday held a mass funeral in Gaza City for 105 people killed in an Israeli bombardment of a residential block on Oct. 25, 2023, reported Xinhua.

Raed Al-Dahshan, director of Gaza's Civil Defense, told Xinhua that its crews had recovered the remains of the 105 people from the rubble of the Al-Taj residential block, nearly three years after it was struck.

The remains were draped in Palestinian flags before the funeral procession set off from the ruins of the block.

Al-Dahshan said the remains of more than 7,000 people were still believed to be trapped beneath the rubble of homes destroyed during the conflict. He called on the international community to provide heavy equipment needed to recover the bodies.

The recovery effort is part of the second phase of a Gaza Civil Defense project launched on July 19. Spanning 800 working hours, it covers searches beneath the rubble of 147 destroyed homes across Gaza City and northern and central Gaza Strip.
